Evaluations
Clear, Validation-First Evaluations
If you have spent months or even years feeling like your brain is running on a completely different operating system than the world around you, you aren’t imagining things. At Empathway Counseling LLC, we provide a neurodivergent affirming autism assessment in Florida that treats you like a whole person, not a collection of deficits.
We don’t look at autism or ADHD as something that needs to be fixed or cured. Instead, our comprehensive neurodivergent assessment options are designed to give you or your child life-changing clarity, mapping out your unique cognitive blueprint so you can stop masking and start thriving.
Medical
Moving Away from the Cold, Deficit-Based Medical Model
For too long, getting a diagnostic evaluation felt cold, clinical, and pathologizing. Traditional testing often ignores a person’s lived experience and focuses entirely on what they can’t do according to neurotypical standards.
This broken approach leaves many adults and parents feeling misunderstood and deeply drained.
We do things differently here. Our approach is entirely neurodiversity affirming. We look at how your brain is wired across multiple areas, including your strengths, your sensory profile, and your executive functioning patterns.
Whether you are looking for an assessment to make sense of your own life or for a loved one, we provide an empathetic, clear, and validating experience.
Assessment
Our Testing & Assessment Services
To make sure you get the exact answers you are looking for, we offer a few different pathways for evaluation:
Comprehensive Neurodivergent Assessment (Autism & ADHD)
This is our most thorough evaluation track. It looks deeply at the intersecting ways adhd and autism interact in your everyday life, uncovering how you process the world, manage your energy, and communicate.

Flat Fee: $700 (All-inclusive: covers your intake, clinical interviews, testing sessions, analysis, and final feedback).
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) Testing
We also offer targeted ADOS-2 testing. In the clinical world, the ADOS-2 is widely recognized as the gold-standard assessment for truly understanding a person’s natural capacities in social interaction, communication, and play. Rather than relying solely on paper-and-pencil tests, this is an interactive evaluation designed to let your natural coding show up in a supportive, low-pressure environment. It is an incredible tool for gaining clarity if you or your child suspect you are on the Autism Spectrum.

Flat Fee: $500 (All-inclusive: covers the intake session, live administration session, feedback session, and the official comprehensive report with tailored clinical recommendations).
Evaluation
Our Step-by-Step Evaluation Process
We know that uncertainty can cause a lot of anxiety, especially when it comes to mental health testing. To help you feel completely grounded, we keep our evaluation process fully transparent and structured into three simple, collaborative stages:
1. Initial Intake & Context Gathering
We start with an in-depth conversation to understand your history and what you hope to get out of testing. We will dive deep into your developmental history, early childhood memories, school or career experiences, and your current daily routine.
This isn’t a rigid interrogation; it is a collaborative space where your lived experience takes center stage
2. The Clinical Testing Session
This is where we look at how your brain handles different types of information, communication style, and tasks. We use an evidence-based combination of tools, pairing interactive standardized assessments (like the ADOS-2, when appropriate) with careful behavioral observation.
Our focus is entirely on finding answers and giving you space to be yourself, not stressing you out.
3. The Feedback Session & Comprehensive Report
A few weeks after your testing session, we will meet for a dedicated feedback session. We will walk through your comprehensive report line by line, translating complex clinical data into plain, everyday English.
You will leave this session with a deep validation of your identity, a formal diagnostic report if criteria are met, and a highly practical roadmap filled with real-world recommendations for school, work, and daily life.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during the feedback session?
The feedback session is arguably the most important part of the entire journey. Instead of just mailing you a confusing packet of data, we sit down together to discuss the findings in a supportive, conversational environment.
We explain what your scores mean, talk about how your traits show up in your life, and answer every single question you have. We want you to walk away from this meeting feeling deeply seen, validated, and equipped with a clear plan for moving forward.
What makes the ADOS-2 the "gold standard" for autism assessments?
The ADOS-2 stands out because it focuses on live, real-time interaction rather than just check-the-box questionnaires. It allows us to look at social nuances, communication styles, and behavioral traits in a natural way.
Because it adapts across different modules based on age and verbal ability, it gives us an extraordinarily accurate, objective look at how an individual processes social dynamics.
Why is it common to test for both adhd and autism at the same time?
In the clinical world, we know that adhd and autism frequently travel together, a combination often referred to as AuDHD. If an evaluator only looks for one, they might miss the subtle ways the other trait influences your behavior.
For instance, an ADHD need for novelty might constantly clash with an autistic need for routine. Testing for both ensures you get a truly accurate picture of your mind.
Do your autism assessments look different for adults compared to children?
Yes, absolutely. Autistic adults have often spent decades learning how to camouflage or “mask” their traits just to survive in social, academic, and workplace settings.
When we conduct autism assessments for adults, our clinical interviews focus heavily on internal experiences, sensory differences, mental exhaustion, and historical masking behaviors that standard child-focused tests completely miss.
Can a formal evaluation help my child get accommodations at school?
Yes. Our ADHD and autism reports are thoroughly detailed and fully recognized by educational institutions.
We include specific, practical recommendations regarding classroom setups, testing modifications, executive functioning support, and sensory breaks. This gives you the paperwork and leverage you need to advocate effectively for your child’s needs.
